"El Correo Del Camino" (Runner of the Road)

I love and am very fascinated by this amazing bird, the Road Runner. The first time I saw one I was amazed by how big they are - and also how fast.   I know that I am not alone in this fascination.  I think the reason for the interest is that they are not a common sight.  I have lived in my a desert preserve for 12 years and it wasn't until this past summer that I saw the first one in my neighborhood!

They have an amazing feather pattern and the golden barrel and walking stick cholla cacti compliment it beautifully.    I've included an authentic native american lizard petroglyphs to symbolize one of their many prey animals. (petroglyphs are also on all four sides of hte canvas).
